Lata Mangeshkar, India's singing legend will be honored by the French Government with the 'Officier de la legion d'Honeur', the highest French Civilian Award. The French ambassador to India will present the award to Lataji for her contribution towards singing and a career that spans more than 60 years. She will be awarded on the opening day of the French Festival in India on December 2. The ceremony is expected to be attended by well known filmmakers and people from the Bollywood film fraternity. Other filmmakers and actors who have been conferred with this award include Satyajit Ray and Amitabh Bachchan for their contribution as a director and actor respectively.
Lataji has also been awarded Bharat Ratna in 2001 and this award will be another feather in her cap.
