Post 'Jannat' (2008) which also depicted match fixing and the relationship between bookies and cricketers, Ravi Kapoor's forthcoming film 'World Cupp 2011' also tries to expose the nexus between the underworld and cricket players. Written and directed by Ravi himself, the film also stars former cricket players Saba Karim and Nikhil Chopra, who play themselves in this film. The film is about an Indian cricket team captain, played by Ravi Kapoor, who tanks a match with the help of his other 4 team mates against arch rival Pakistan during the 2007 World Cup. However they are then exposed by a reporter and all of them are banned from playing for 4 years. How Ravi's life changes there on and how he comes back to the team to make amends despite of his girlfriend being kidnapped to pressurize him to tank the match again, forms the later part of the film.
The film also stars Suresh Oberoi, Zakir Hussain, Ehsan Khan and Manisha Chatterjee and is produced by A. Gems Pvt Ltd.
