Abhay Deol the eccentric actor has built his career around distinctive roles in his films be it the suave thief in OYE LUCKY LUCKY OYE or the modern day lover in DEV D.
Without a doubt he is Bollywood's answer to a crossover actor. Adds a source "Like Johnny Depp, Abhay is definitely a character oriented actor, he is the most sought after crossover actor in Bollywood. In fact everyone also believes he can do great commercially."
What has caught everyone's eye is the fact that Abhay gets invited to almost all film festivals world over. An industry insider reveals "Abhay in this year itself was invited to Osian Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Moma Film Festival, Doha Tribeca Film Festival…That itself is a huge honor for Abhay to be bestowed with. He has also lectured at many of these festivals thanks to his amazing knowledge on films and film making. In fact, The TribeCa film festival has been held in Doha for the first time ever for the Asian films and Abhay was invited cos of his tremendous fan following.
Which had Abhay Deol travelling to various places like Toronto, Rio de Janeiro, New Delhi, Doha, Venice, Pennsylvania etc.
In ROAD Abhay plays a truck driver whose life goes through a complete transformation. ROAD MOVIE shows Abhay meeting different people including a young boy, a tribal woman, a silly and a wise man during his journey.
Similarly Abhay met the likes of veteran directors and actors like Martin Scorcese, Robert de Nero, Jodie Foster, Matt Damon during his roller coaster visit to all the festivals.

Abhay Deol will soon be seen in AISHA also starring Sonam Kapoor and BASRA (under his own production house) for which is he undergoing rigorous training in Krav Maga.
